Re-opening of the Church for Private Prayer
We will be opening St John’s each day for two hours from 15th June from 10.30-12.30pm for individual prayer.
Several members of our church have volunteered to be on duty whilst the church is open to act as stewards. This is necessary to ensure the Government guidelines are followed, especially with regarding to maintaining social distancing. The measures in place are: separate entrance/exit, using hand-sanitiser upon entry/exit, having a one-way system to reduce possible contact with others, use of only three designated pews (which will be cleaned in between each visitor). To further reduce possible transmission risk, we have removed the pew cushions from the designated pews as well as the Bibles. Please bring your own Bible. The toilet and votive candle stand are unavailable.
Many churches won’t be opening but we feel it is important to offer St John’s for prayer and reflection as we have been so used to doing for almost five years. This would not be possible without the team of stewards and others who have given up their time to be on duty to ensure we do our bit to keep everyone safe. So, huge thanks to the stewards’ team and to our Churchwardens, Jonny who have spent many hours preparing risk assessments etc this week!
We are pleased to announce that from Sunday 5th July our worship of God can now resume for limited Communion Services on Sundays (9.30-10.05am) and on Wednesdays (10.30-11.05am).
We will continue to provide online prayer, worship, study and community life for those people who are shielded or cannot attend in person. See our Virtual Church Page.
Strict Coronavirus guidelines will apply, therefore, you will need to book prior to attending either service by contacting the Revd Jonny Rapson (click here).
The Coronavirus regulations require that there will be no hymns, peace, pew sheets, or Bibles. Communion will be administered in one kind only with no sharing of the common cup. Communicants will receive the bread only in the hand. We will of course supply hand gel for use prior to entry, and we would advise you to wear face coverings and gloves if possible. A full risk assessment has been conducted and Stewards will meet you at the South Door and direct you to the available pews.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our Church.
