Congratulations! A very warm welcome to you if you are thinking about being married at St John's Church.

Please read through the information below and contact us if you wish to discuss a wedding in more detail.

You have the legal right to be married at St John's if, either you or your partner have been baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish;

  • have ever lived in the parish for six months or more;
  • have at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
  • have a parent who has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
  • have parents who have regularly attended public worship at St John's for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
  • have parents or grandparents who were married in the parish.

If you have been divorced and your previous spouse is still living, you may still be married in the Church of England, but at the discretion of the Rector.

If you need to be married by licence, one of the parties must be baptised.
