Children 

Have you got children that you would like to bring to church?  We run a specific programme just for them and we call it Junior Church!  Our aim is to make sure every child can be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. 

Junior Church is available for children in Pre-School to Year 6, with a crèche for babies, toddlers and their parents.  Junior Church and the crèche take place in Church House, Old Church Lane, Stanmore.

We have an all-age service usually on the first Sunday of the month, and the children take an active part in the service, reading, serving and leading the prayers.  The all-age service is sometimes moved to coincide with special occasions such as Harvest, Christmas, Mothering Sunday, Dedication Festival and Easter.

On the second and fourth Sundays in the month we meet in Church House in our appropriate age groups for story time, games, craft and worship.  During their time in Church House the children are currently using Searchlights material, published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd, and they are split into the following groups:

Creche
Babies and toddlers

Junior Church
Group 1 - Pre-school to Year 2
Group 2 - Year 3 to Year 6
Year 7+ are still welcome to join us and participate in/assist with the activities for the Year 3-Year 6 group.  

We begin with a welcome and coming together for the lighting of the candle.  We sometimes sing together before going into our relevant groups.  We also acknowledge birthdays at this point.  During group time we usually have a Bible story which follows the Lectionary, and also either play a connected game or move to the tables for a craft activity related to the theme of the day.  Lots of fun!

At the end of the session, the children are split into colour-coded age-appropriate groups so that they are safe when walking over to Church.  We join the main the church service in time for the children to receive communion or a blessing.

Our Junior Church leader are appointed after an interview has taken place, a DBS Check to Enhanced level is obtained and only once the Church of England's safeguarding training has been completed.
